the time has come

Well, the time has come to bid my Bronco goodbye (gets a little choked up) and buy an expy.

I'm planning to buy a 97/98 5.4 4x4, I'm in Canada so I'm trying to find one for under 20K. I'm planning to use this truck as a daily driver, for road trip vacations and possibly to tow a travel trailer in the future.

Based on what I've read on this forum and elsewhere, these model years haven't had too many problems. But what specifics should I look for that might give me problems in the future?

I think I want one with captains chairs, but I test drove a '99 EB with cloth seats and they didn't seem to be very comfortable, although maybe I just hadn't adjusted them correctly - my wife noticed the same thing.

Are you happy with the seats you have in your expy?

Thanks all

Say it ain't so! I came to the same crossroad, but decided to keep the bronco and add the expy to my collection. My '97 has the power bench seat in the front, and we really like it. My wife likes to sit in the middle next to me, and after driving to Montana from Denver, we can't really complain about the seats. The biggest benefit I can see from the console is storage, but there's plenty of that elsewhere. Oh, I wish there were more cupholders though.

All 1997-2002 EB's came with leather seats.

The seats are much firmer than the seats on your old Bronco. Try adjusting the lumbar support and see if it helps.

Yeah, I wish I could keep both but it just isn't in the cards.

Thanks for the advice

Just looking at prices and availability locally, hoping that people are looking to deal with the holidays around the corner.

We test drove the bench and hated it, but loved the Captain's chairs. We test drove an XLT with cloth captain's chairs and loved it, but found the EB leather uncomfortable on the 2002s. But in the end, I got a '99 with leather Captain's chairs, and I LOVE it!

Definitely try playing with the seat controls. I'm positive the reason we originally disliked the leather on the '02 was the lumbar.
