Intro

Just introducing myself and son, I am Ryan O. My son is Ryan Jr 20 years old. (Blacksnake due to Black colored Cobra) We live in Southern California and we are about to purchase a 1952 F1 with no motor or trans. Going to get it tomorrow.

We are Ford thru and thru as both sides of the family have worked for Ford and that is all we drive.

We currently have a Cobra replica, a 1965 mustang fastback and the love of my son's life his 1962 Fairlane.

We bought the Cobra finished, we bought the 62 Fairlane semi-finished and the 65 stang we bought as a basket case. We just finished the Mustang but it was really not all that bad.

My son and I are mechanically challenged but we get by with a LOT of help from our friends.

I am looking forward to using this forum for answers because we know less about the F1 than we did about the mustang. Plus I just broke my ankle so I will be on the web alot. Nice to meet you all. Here is a picture of our stable LOL Ryan

very sweet rides! I like the Bullitt wheels on the '65, one of these days I'm going to put some 99-04 Bullitts on my '67 Mustang

You on Vintage Mustang Forums? You'd be able to find anything about your Stang on there. Anything.

Just very cool ^_^

I finished my Mustang a few years ago and am now just starting a '56... which I bought like 6 months ago and because of one thing after another its still 400 miles from me, lol, but thats to change very soon!

I like the '52 body style a lot, any plans?

And welcome! I post a lot... mainly questions, I've actually only probably spent 5 hours (which I am NOT happy about) on my truck but I research things to death...

Well, come on in and pull up a chair! Judging from the looks of your existing herd, you've got enough mechanical know-how to screw an F-1 together. You've found the hands down best Bonus Built Ford truck resource on the 'net or anywhere else. There isn't an answer that you can't find here or a problem that somebody can't help out with. What are your powertrain plans for the '52?

thanks

Stephen Thanks for the comments and yes I am on the Mustang forums as well as the Cobra Forums, what a wealth of information! And the wheels arent bullit wheels they are knock offs from China, I didnt like the bullits cuz I couldnt get a lip on them. YOu cant tell but the backs are 1 inch wider than the fronts. If you want info on the wheels let me know, they are not expensive.

ANd thanks for the welcome.

As far as plans for the truck my son (empty wallet) wants to chop it and paint it all crazy. For now since we have a limited budget, we may leave it a bit rusty, (it is green) and put some type of fadded army color on it (home made job) and throw a star on the door until we get the body work all done. We are going to disassemble as much as we can and clean and paint everything,, relocate the gas tank etc before we get to the powertrain.

As far as powertrain we may take the 65 mustangs complet powertrain and put it inn the truck. (289 w c4). My son wants to put the 3 speed on the tree ouut of the Fairlane into the truck? Not exactly sure whhat we are gonna do.

Talk to you all soon Rya n RYan

Welcome to the board! I'm a Fairlaner myself. Currently working on a '48 F1 and '62 2dr post. BTW, those are some nice rides, and it's good to hear you and your son being able to hang together.

thanks

We just built a 12x14 garage in the back. (Stuffed in the corner of our So Cal tract home) It is now full of lawn equip and some motorcycles. Gonna have to empty it to make room for the F1 restore. I am very glad o have my son around to help me, he is 20and has had his ups and downs and just glad he is still around and being responsible. His latest is that he is gonnna try to follow in dad's footsteps and get into law-enforcement. Thanks for the kind words Ryan Sr.

Welcome to the forum. I think it's awesome you guys are working on a project together and already have an insane fleet of Fords. If only my pops was a car dude I might have some other rides to mess around with. I can't tell you the amounts of help and knowledge I've picked up from hanging around this forum.

btw: I almost painted my truck army green (rattle canned) with a star on the door! I went suede black but want another car to go the military green with... looks rad.

says it has the oe v=8 aka flatty . whats wrong with leaving her in it ????? being locked up or non running is no issue , many of us here have flatty's that had issues and are running the bejeezuz outta 'em now . not to mention being a lil' more budget freindly . they can say what they will but it isnt that pricey .... especially after peering into the present / soon to be toy a 4.6 bird . those parts are outrageous ! as far as trannies hades you can put anything ya want from the oe to an auto behind one .
