I just got an awesome deal on a set of 18x10 Eagle Alloys with 325/60/18 Toyo A/T's on them (if you consider 'free' a good deal!) and now have a small problem. I need a steering stabilizer! Do I need a dual unit for this wide tire or is a single sufficient? They're not very tall, about 33", but fairly wide and I already wanted a stabilizer with the 305/70/16's I had. I'm not spending $300 for a stabilizer so it'll be a Rancho or Skyjacker, or something along those lines. There's no lift yet but I'm ordering a 2" leveling kit for the front. Thanks for any suggestions.
You will be fine with a single unit, but I gotta tell ya, I have the SkyJacker dual kit on my 2005, and it looks awesome. Plus it makes a big difference in the way the truck handles on rough roads and especially off road.
I picked up my dual stabilizer kit from Summit Racing for about the cheapest on the net, and have been very happy with it. Plus its an easy install and has everything you need, and bolts right up.
So is one better than another? I've looked at Skyjacker, Rancho, Icon (waaay to high dollar!) and a couple of others but nothing makes any stand out as far as quality or performance advantages.
Personally, I dont think so. Skyjacker has been around a LONG time, and I can tell you the kit they send ya is a great kit. Real heavy hardware and bolts up perfectly. Theres really not a lot to the systems.... just some special shocks and some brackets. Ive been real happy with my Skyjacker dual kit.
Skyjacker makes some really good stuff!
But save your money if you dont have Big tires or a big lift!
Stay with the factory setup. You could always go with an upgrade like Rancho.
I have been there done that! I go off road alot and the location of most double stabilizer kits puts them in harms way. Stick with the factory setup and a single, upgrade stablizer.
I got FabTech Doubles and bent both of them. Also not much differnece than the factory.

I would like to just upgrade to a better shock but I don't have a factory stabilizer. I wish I did, a new shock would be way cheaper.
I also bought the dual stabilizers but purchased the "Rough Country" kit. Also a high quality heavy duty kit. Purchased from 4wheelingplus.com. For your 2003, should be p/n- 87490 and sells for 89.95 with the boot color of your choice. W/shipping is about $100. You will have to search the web for a picture as both the RC site and 4w only "show" a single stabilizer. Your 2003 kit is a different style than the 05 and up kits.
