what should i do????
this is my first post,btw...i have a 95 f150 xlt with a 5.0 engine..the truck has over 300,000 original miles on it,,,i drive it daily,its also my beach buggy....i love this truck...how stupid would it be to go to ford and have them put a new moter,tranny in...body has miner rust,rot in the usaul places,,,interior is mint,,,i would like to upgrade things like suspention,paint,rims,tires...a little at a time,,,as i can afford too....please help with decision....thanks,,j

It is a reasonable request to fix up you ride a little at a time. You might want to look around for a place to install the motor and trans at a lower price than ford can give you, but its your choice. Keep us updated on it.

I don't think its stupid to have a new Ford motor installed. If like your truck and its in good shape, then why not. I think the motor is about 1800-2000. I don't know what the labor is though.
I love my truck and it will get a new motor when the time comes. I would rather have it than a brand new one any day. It has 270k on it currently with original engine and transmission. Is your trans original too?
You might consider checking out Jasper. I have not heard anything but good comments about them. They offer a 3 year 100k mile warranty. This is what I am considering doing instead of a Ford motor.
