The last new flash that I was aware of was the inductive flash that came out in '07 and it didn't effect performance on my truck at all. Incidentally you might get more responses if you stated what year and type of truck you have.

Same thing just happened to mine too. The TSB # was 08-26-03. Says on the service ticket that they reprogrammed the FICM. It feels a little more sluggish but the boost is still there. I haven't driven it very much since it was done but I can feel a difference. I'll post up this week as I will be driving it more and I'll see if it picks back up.

Well, in doing a little digging, I found this:

TSB 07-18-4

09/17/07

6.0L - INTERMITTENT MIL ON AND/OR
INTERMITTENT DTC P0470 - TEMPERATURES
BELOW FREEZING

FORD:
2006-2007 F-Super Duty

ISSUE
Some 2006-2007 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.0L diesel engine may exhibit a intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) light on and/or intermittent diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0470 only in conditions where ambient temperatures are below freezing on start up.

ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 50.10 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2007.7 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage

IMPORTANT : Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.

OPERATION DESCRIPTION TIME

071804A 2006-2007 F-Super Duty 0.7 Hr.
6.0L: Check For DTCs
And Reprogram The PCM
(Do Not Use With 12650D)

This newest flash that mine got apparently just superceded this one and had a few indicators in it to find whether or not the inductive heat flash was already present.

Not sure if this is the same as what your truck got but if it is, here's some interesting reading on it:

Could be. Check all of your hoses and fittings if you haven't already. There have been problems with clamps coming loose. Also check the hoses themselves for cracks, etc. Mine is a little more sluggish but is still consistently getting around 25-28 pounds of boost.

I just had a flash done two weeks ago to my 05 F250 6.0L, and now I get some black smoke on take off. I also have never seen the boost go above 20 psi even when I hammer it. Should I be getting more boost than that? I just got the truck three months ago.

Like I said, I regularly see 25-28 at WOT. I too get a little puff of black smoke if I hammer it hard but it's very little.

Probably not related then but they just flashed mine Thursday last week and that was the TSB number for it. Not sure what yours was.

When the dealer re-flashes a truck... when they re-start it, they are to let it idle for 3 - 5 minutes so the computer learns the EGR strategy and what "idle is"... after that all is good.

Most have had no problems with the new flash.

You can always disconnect both batteries, wait 2 minutes and re-connect them... then do the "idle thing"... and see if that works.

Can always take back to dealer and have then hook it up again and re-check???

Good luck,

I would add turning on headlights for approx 45 seconds after dis-connecting both batteries to clear all memory.

I've read on another forum about a new inductive heating flash that supposedly lowers the voltage to the injector coils, but I don't think this is possible. I'm thinking it lowers the time of heating instead. Maybe one of our good tech's knows the latest.

Would this cause a programmer not to be able to load? The reason I ask is because I just traded in my 2005 6.0 for another 2005 6.0, and when I tried to load my programmer, the screen said "engine component not recognized". The programmer is a bullydog power pup. It worked perfectly on my other 2005. Any ideas??
