I'm new here. So hi y'all. I own a 96 f150 with a 300 inline six. I have a friend that has a 95 with the 300 and is a stick. he was interested in sticking in an automatic trans because his knees are bad so shifting can be rough on him. From my knowledge all 95's (and 96's) with a 300 came with the E4OD trans. Correct me if I'm wrong. Other than putting in the new trans and torque converter, switching the ECU, and hooking up new shift linkages, what would be required to be done? New flexplate, etc?
I'm working at going the other direction. :)
Oil cooler situation will need to be worked out.
Crossmember is different on the two I'm working with.
Driveshaft length is prob'ly going to be different.
The pedal assemblies are different and their parts aren't interchangeable. :/
You could just cut the clutch pedal lever off tho, I guess. :/
If you go with a floor shift a new steering column won't be needed. ;)
I'm using a parts truck (it's donating the wide ratio ZF) but all this
ripping stuff out and installing it in something else is fun. :)
...otherwise it'd be a nightmare?
So your friend with the manual wants an automatic and you have an automatic and want a manual? If that is the case then you are in good shape, you have your donor truck and he has his. Here is a pic of everything that is needed, this is for a 4x4 but I found this very helpful when I changed my truck from auto to manual.
