its got literally the exact amount of fluid its supposed to have in it and the transfer case wouldnt have anything to do with it . and it has fluid in that too
Does that mean you haven't checked it? Just dumped the fluid into it and assumed all was well?
How did you service it? If you drained the pan and did the service WITHOUT finding a way to drain the torque converter, the transmission will take MUCH less than the fluid capacity listed in the manual, as there is LOTS of fluid left in there.
Yes, it's computer controlled, but some things the computer can't do. Like not let the TC transfer power 'till 3200 RPMs. Can't do it! I STRONGLY doubt it's the computer...
i did check with the dipstick i have the pan on and off like 13 times.draining it then filling it back up.the only way i can think of to drain the tc would be to pull the tranny back and that is alot of work for no real reason unless i knew that the tc was bad
If the computer is telling the shift solenoids to shift at the wrong rpm than the computer is still at fault. The TC can spin all it wants, but with no gear selected its basically in neutral.
Yes, but if the computer wasn't telling it to engage a gear until 3200 RPMs, he'd be doing some pretty crazy burnouts. Think about it, what happens if you rev your engine to 3200 RPMs and drop it into drive? Bad Things would happen.
Nitro, I misunderstood you, as it sounded like you simply filled it up and went, without checking with the dipstick. You're right, you can't drain the TC short of removing it or using a flush machine. I was concerned that you overfilled it! Off the top of my head, I believe these trannies have a capacity of 18 quarts, but most that I've read say that it only takes 8-10 quarts when they service it by removing the pan, because there's still quite a bit left in the tranny.
Which fluid did you use? You didn't use Mercon V did you? Shot in the dark here, but if you used the wrong fluid you would foul your shift solenoids and cause big problems. Tranny only takes Mercon SP!
I think you need to start rulling things out... If you are sure, you are useing the correct fluid. Then you might try resetting the computer. The proper way to do this is...
Disconnect both pos/neg terminals. Then with both cables disconnected, connect them together. You can use a c clamp, or duct tape to hold them in place... You will have to leave them for 15 to 20 min.
Then simply disconnect them from each other, and hook them to there proper battery terminals.
That will reset your computer to the original settings, and clear any codes or bad habits it may have picked up.
Its a goofy proceedure, but it is the proper, way to reset it...
If he hadn't said it did it before the fluid change, I'd bet on the wrong fluid.
Nitro, sometimes there's no substitute for a proper diagnosis by a qualified transmission shop. You can throw parts and fluid at it until you're blue in the face and not fix a simple problem. Get it to a professional, have them diagnose it properly, and fix only what needs fixing, you will be money (and stress) ahead.
I doubt with 60k on it your torqueshift tranny is toast, unless it was severely abused. I have 83k hard plowing and towing miles on my 05 and it shifts like it did new. Probably something simple, get it to a professional before your drive yourself crazy.
what about using the mercon 5 ..that is what i used when i changed the fluid .could that be the problem? if it is something stupid like that i am gonna be pissed .what fluid should i have used ? what will the wrong fluid do.

AAHHH! Not good!
The TorqShift Transmission needs Mercon SP ONLY. Mercon V is different stuff and supposedly can destroy your shift solenoids.
