OKay so I was going somewhere yesterday and need to get there!
My trucks starts to buck and won't go any faster than 80mph.
Please don't tell me about my speed just tell me if the truck is defueling and if the factory shuts these off at this speed?
I do not have any mods done?????

You'll need to indicate what truck you have F250, F450... If I don't mistake the F250 is limited to 94 miles/hour..
From the size of the wheels in your avatar, I'm gonna go with you have a 450. With the detuned engine and the 4.88s, you probably are hitting some kind of rev limiter/ governor in the PCM.
Rick, your truck has the 4.88 gears if I remember correctly. If this is the case, it's programmed from the factory to for fuel cutout at 82 MPH on the F-450s. So it is governed, so to speak, to 82MPH.
Lots of 19.5" tires (and 22.5" and 24.5" for that matter, since we're talking commercial tires) are rated by the mfg. to have a 75-80 mph speed rating. I don't know how likely a tread sep is on something as light as an F-450, but there's probably a nasty liability problem for Ford somewhere in this governor

Just as I thought my 450 has training wheels on it
Hmmm..just one more reason I need a Spartan
It has been running real good lately...9,500 miles on the clock we changed the oil and I thought I didn't get the oil plug tight but after checking it I still see a drip of oil on the floor.
I will have to get it up on the lift and inspect it further.
I ran out to state college yesterday and I ran it real hard well it would have been harder if I could have got a little more mph average around 11.2 on the lie-o-meter
Still could use a little pulling power when loaded.
Another good reason for a Spartan

We can get rid of the pesky limiter- they will handle speeds faster than you'll likely find a need for with it gone.
F250s & F350s are governed at 95 mph, F450s and F550s are governed 81 mph. FYI the truck also sets a continuous memory code (not a cel) so technicians can know if you have been driving up against the limiter.
