Shameless pimping thread

In a conversation with one of my favorite members here, Bismic, who NO ONE will argue that he doesn't selflessly give his time and knowledge here for all, led me to believe that maybe at least half of the members to whom he has sent his spreadsheets to have not even e-mailed him to thank him. Now he was NOT complaining or whining about this, simply a matter-of-fact answer to the question I asked him. And thats just not right. Obviously, this man has spent countless hours gathering all of this info and has given it freely to ANYONE, including myself, who has asked for it. C'mon you guys, show him the love he deserves, at least thank him, and rep him if you can. You know who you are, and you don't have to admit guilt here for everyone to see. PM him, thank him and show some love for the guys here who selflessly help everyone out with the knowledge they have accumulated over months and even years of trial/error and research. Remember, no one here gets paid, we all do it because we like to help. Same goes for the other guys who always seem to be helping here, and I can name a dozen off the top of my head. Show the love, and become a supporter if the help here has saved you more than $60-ever. Thanks for reading.

who's bismic?

J/K Mark.. No doubt you spend alot of time gathering info to share with people for their own benefit.. Yourself, and the other knowledgeable posters here are the assest that keep people coming back to the 6.0 forum.. It's successful because you guys are honest and really take the time to think, and help others out.. I appreciate the time you guys put into it.. For me, there aren't many days that go by here where I can't learn something new.. You may not feel recognized all the time guys, but don't think you are un-noticed..

Good one, and don't sell yourself short, you are one of the good guys here too! And I hope that didn't come off the wrong way the point I was trying to make was just for a simple thank you for his spreadsheets.

You know, Tim, if you didn't bring this up then no one would and certainly Mark wouldn't come asking for it. I concur that he's a great guy, great asset, and isn't one to seek a thank you from someone. All he wants to do is help. My parents taught me manners that I use every day and have forced onto my children. I actually feel guilty right now because I've been helping forward Mark's spreadsheets (because that's about the only useful thing I can offer here) and I haven't one time forwarded on the thank yous that people have sent to me. There haven't been a lot mind you, but I owe Mark several thank yous from other people. So, Mark, thanks from some grateful recipients of your spreadsheets. Keep up the good work!

Hey - let me jump in and explain a few things!

First - many thanks Tim (and all) for the kind words. I do appreciate them.

Second, my intentions for compiling these spreadsheets has not been for getting thanks, it is my way of saying "thank-you". I know there are many good forums, I just happened to choose this one to start with and I have stuck with it - mainly because of the great people here. I learned so much EXTREMELY valuable information early on (several years ago and really still learning). Quite a few of the guys I learned from are still posting here, so THANK-YOU to them. Also, there are still a number of techs posting here - and that is FANTASTIC! (actually back a few years ago, there were quite a few techs that posted). As you (Tim), William and slowmans said, all these folks are the ones that have earned the BIG thank-you. I decided early on to do this spreadsheet as a way to "repay" all the folks that started me on this road to learning the things I need to know about this complicated beast.

............ And for sure - become an FTE supporter!

Great thread Tim. I try to regularly thank and rep him and have several of his posts in my favorites for reference. He is a HUGE asset to the site and I agree completely. He's also a very humble guy from what I can tell who is genuinely here to help and does so daily.

On the subject of reps, I have noticed that they don't get handed out as much as they used to. I think a lot of the time, the newer members aren't fully familiar with them or how to give them out, etc. Maybe it's time for a refresher "rep" thread to remind everyone what they are and how to give them out, and so forth. Maybe one of the moderators could post something up if they are reading this....just a suggestion.

Ya know, I was worried after I posted this that some might take it the wrong way, and I'm happy to see that it was received as intended. I was in no way looking for praise myself, rather just to let some of the newer guys know it wouldn't hurt to " show some love", sorry to over-use this term but it fits. Now, how's about a group hug?

Hey, how come slowmans doesn't have a rep button in his upper right corner? I wanted to thank all who have posted here for the support, but no "LOVE" button. Is it just on my computer? What gives? CAN'T I SHOW SOME LOVE,MAN??? OK, sorry, I am getting a little carried away, but sometimes I just crack myself up... Seriously, why no button?

Man, that sucks...a loveless existence on FTE. It's not showing one. How in the heck can you rep somebody like that?

While I have never personally been in a situation where I have had to use his compiled information, I have gone over it and looked at it and recomended it to many people (especially people posting 6.0 questions in the SD forum) He is a great resource and asset to this forum, keep up the good work bismic.

i think me and Slowmans know why he is this way, thats cause the snakeoil.... ok i said to much.......
anyways , as all of you said Mark spent a lot of time doing his homework. and to be specific he did it for us too. belive me, i did few things in 7.3 forum and let me tell you , gathering information it aint easy as some of you might know it allready. you remember you saw it somwhere , and now you cannot find it . how many of you were in this situation?????? i bet most of you . so Mark spent Shi@t load of time collecting all of it and putting it back in one easy to access folder.

a lot of us are tryng to help , but Mark is above and beyond ... way beyond, way way beyond hahaha you know where im going with this ....

THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
