Charcoal line, removed, hook back up??
When I flushed my tank and replaced the sending unit, I blocked off the line at the top of the tank that I thought went to the old charcoal canister. The canister is long gone, I blocked line to limit any contamination, is this line needed to let vapors escape? Right now I have a vacuum cap over the end of the fitting, should I reconnect the hose to let vapors out??? Thanks Blair

I would hook it back up if it were me. The charcoal canister is there to absorb fuel vapors. Whether or not you vent your tank to the canister or to the atmosphere is secondary but it must be vented. If you need to pass a smog inspection you will need to have the charcoal canister. Blocking off the vent on your tank will not allow you tank to vent. Your tank has to have a vent in order for your fuel pump to pull fuel from it. Otherwise your pump will create a vacuum in the tank and you will starve your carb. of fuel. Also without the vent, it hot climates your tank can build pressure as the fuel expands. If you choose to keep the vent blocked, then you will need a vented gas cap. Smog inspectors check to see if you have the right gas cap for your vehicle.

Thanks for input. Don't need to worry for smog out here in Sticksville, but I had seen a post on something like this and it started me thinking. At least its an easy fix, don't have to completely drop the tank to reconnect the hose. Thanks again, Blair
