Cliff Ruggles wrote the book on Qjets. I Emailed him about two years ago...got a quick response and he basically recommended a mid-70's model set up for small block applications.
hey, I don't know if this will help you, but I was looking through one of the Classic Truck magazines, and saw an article about rebuilding a Q Jet. It was in Barnes and Nobles.
Good luck. I like the size of the secondaries of the Q jet, real neck jerkers! If yours works out well, I might swap out my carb.
Yes, the secondaries (toilet flushers) are bog monsters unless the air flap is screwed down so they do not open too much too fast...normal set-up adjustment.
