hard starting 7.3L
A friend has a F-250, 1988 or 1989, with the 7.3L diesel engine. It's hard to start when it's cold. He has to crank it over for a lot longer than when it's warm or the weather is warm. When it finally starts, quite a bit of smoke comes out the exhaust (probally all the fuel from all the cranking ).He had the glow plugs and associated wiring replaced at a dealer not long ago and it helped a little but didn't solve the problem entirely. We're wondering if there is a heater somewhere in the fuel system that isn't getting the fuel warm enough or is it likely something else. Any help or ideas about this will be appreciated. Thanx

You might want to post this in the diesel fourm. The only thing I have ever owned that burned oil (Besides a Chevy) was a furnace
