Wrong radiator??

Just ordered a radiator from Ford for my 1996 F-150. It came in but it has two additional outlets on the left side. Oil cooler maybe? I got the tow package when I purchased so I thought I had super cooling. Can someone confirm for me that the holes are for an oil cooler and thats the difference between a radiator with super cooling and one without? Or maybe its the wrong one??

You're talking about fittings in the end tank? Those are the automatic transmission cooler. Most replacement radiators will have the cooler so that it can be installed in either a manual or automatic truck. The super cooling radiator has two rows of tubes while the standard radiator only has one row.

yes fittings on the end tank. This is good news then. However it did not come with caps for the fittings. I'll call Ford. Thanks

You dont need caps for the two extra holes. ATF flows thru them. No coolant goes thru there

Correct. No fitting go in those empty spots. If you had transmission oil cooling lines they would connect to the spots on your radiator and the ATF would run through this side tank and cool the fluid then flow back int your transmission. You do not need to worry about any of this. Just hook up and upper and lower radiator hoses as you would normally do.

Most replacement radiators will have the cooler so that it can be installed in either a manual or automatic truck.

Yea they might I guess depending on the vendor but I bought one for a manual trans a couple months ago for my sons bronco and it was cheaper then one for an auto. Wasn't a lot cheaper no but saved some 20 bucks, brought the price down under a C note.

If you don't need trans cooler built in see if you can get one without for less money. The manual model may have been out of stock so they just sent you that one too?

Oh and no, I wouldn't accept that one. Maybe for half price I might depending on how bad it is.

Thanks DANR1....Wanted to install an OEM radiator. Anyone had issues with an aftermarket? I think I can get one allot quicker and a lot cheaper.
