OK so all the funny business gonig on with my 2000 PSD has me thinking it is a grounding problem.
Where are they? Foun done in the engine compartment next to the fuse box on the inner fender. I magine there are some behind the foot well kick panels.
Ok like coming back to the truck an hour later and the vent fan is running. Keys are in my pocket and it wasn't running when I got out.
Get in crank it up, ABS light and air bag warning are on with faint dinging from the dash. shut the truck off and crank back up just ABS light on. Next time everything is good.
This weekend cruising to Baton Rouge to race truck would die on the interstate and then jump back to life a second later. (wierd).
Possibly could be GEM related.
The windshields are prone to leak on these trucks and can cause issues w/ the GEM.
Look under the dash behind the fuse box for moisture or evidence of water.

Well got up under the fuse panel and it's all dry as a bone. Plus I would not know what a GEM looked like if it bit me on the nose. General Electronic Module. I work with an ex Ford electrical engineer maybe I'll get him to come point it out later.
Didn't find anything loose or getting wet.
What year is your truck? The 99-01 have a GEM (Generic Electronic Module) the 02-03 have a VSM (Vehicle Security Module) The problem that you are describing sound like one of those and not a grounding issue.

The 99-01 GEM is on the back of the fuse panel. Dunno about 02-03.
Well I found the box that must be a GEM it is connected to the fire wall and on the engine side there are big huge connectors with all the harness wires going in .
I did find most of the ground wires and most were corroded. passenger side under truck frame to cab strap. then inside both foot well kick panels. Engine side cowl both sides. the passenger side goes to the cylinder head.(interesting) and very corroded, Two by the passenger battery on the fender, one between the fuse panel and fender on drivers side. I'll go for a drive Friday and see if it dies again.
