Just bought a 2000 Excursion

Well I want to thank everyone on here for your help in trying to find me a truck, well I found one and bought it, its a 2000 Black Excursion Limited v10 4x4r with 75,000 miles on it. I found it on nashville craigslist for 8,500 I was the first one to call so he held it for me. I picked it up on monday it was a 7 hour drive but my brother in-law took me up there in my svt focus.

The truck is amazing and real clean, all they used it for was towing so it has the brake controller on it.

I will be posting pics shortly so be on the look out.

First thing i am getting is the 2005 harley headlights and then the grille conversion to bring it up to the look of a 2005 f250. also i plan on adding flowmasters and the banks towing system since i tow a 7000 pound travel trailer.

What are your thoughts guys let me know.

Luke

Congrats - glad you finally found one. If you are only towing 7k lbs you wont need to add any power unless you just happen to want to. My engine/drivetrain is bone stock and tows my 10k+ boat just fine. Which Flowmaster are you going with?

Do a search for "towing" with the X; there is a wealth of knowledge there.
I'm with tdappleman, you won't "need" the banks system or Flowmaster, only if you "want" it. I tow an 8k lb 30' travel trailer and it does it just fine. Recently got back from a 2600 mile trip to the Badlands/Black hills of S.D. and it pulled some 3 mile 6% grades out there in 90 degree heat with the air on full blast, and it pulled them just fine. Remember, the V-10 likes to rev, so don't be afraid to run her hard. On those grades, I was in 2nd gear @ 58 mph and running about 3800-4000 rpm. Never broke a sweat.

See if it has the rear swaybar. If not, that is your first order of business. Get the Helwig from JC Whitney's. About 2 hours to put on (Or less). I also put on the Roadmaster Active Suspension, which makes the X handle great, and really improves the load carrying characteristics.
