Whipple Supercharger

I have a 2008 F-150 and I want to buy a whipple supercharger, but it will void the powertrain warranty. If i do get the whipple what are the chances of it damaging the truck? And can a whipple supercharger be installed on a 4X4 drivetrain? Any advice will be helpful.

Well, the chances are the same as putting a Roush Charger in a 4x4 truck. Yes, you can install it on a 4x4. You would need someone to flash the pcm. I know when I was at Ford, we had whipples in several protos running around. Some of the engineers preferred them over the Roush setup. If you get the entire kit and pcm reflash, you should be fine. I've wanted one for mine 04 4x4 as well. Just keep waiting for the prices to come down.. Long term, I would think about upgrading the trans, but I'm 99% sure that Roush doesn't mod the driveline for their setup.

Whipple:
an excellent blower. just gonna cost you some $$$. in the end, it has more HP potential than a Roush or Saleen blower with supporting mods.

this is the blower that is used mostly by Ford Racing kits
Magnacharger:
another great company as well. They are running a hair over $3,000 on eBay right now.
RoushCharger:
My favorite hands down.

The Non-Intercooled Roush is $2,100-2,400 on eBay as well from Roush directly. Price seems to vary depending what day of the week it is.

BTW, Roush MAINTAINS THE FACTORY WARRANTY...well they replace the Ford 3yr/36k warranty with a Roush 3yr/36k Powertrain Warranty.

PCM Handling:
With any blower, you need the PCM reflashed. Whipple and Magnacharger don't offer it directly out of the box. You can purchase the Ford Racing Supercharger (Whipple) and it comes with a programmer & tune to run the kit,
4x4:
All of the blowers only have 1 affect on the 4x4 system. The 04+ F-150 front hubs are vacuum activated. On the drivers valve cover (cylinder #4) there is a vacuum tap-off. The blowers re-route this connection to the intake...but it's function is not affected.

I know a guy on another forum who drag races his 2005 F-150 in 4x4hi. He's running 450-500 RWHP and hasn't broken a thing. Evil truck

Personal Blower Experience:
I ran my 2006 FX4 Screw supercharged with a RoushCharger for 8 months. Roush even gave me a 1yr Powertrain Warranty. I paid $2,400 for it...best money I've ever spent on a vehicle...pure fun.

Ever seen a 6,000 lbs, 20 ft long truck powerslide across the highway entry ramp? I have Forgot about the blower and just floored it

stock engine, RoushCharger, 10 psi pulley, longtube headers, GT500 fuel system, custom exhaust

a few other goodies, but those are the main ones.

keep it under 10 psi and these blocks are good for about 550-600 crank HP. After drivetrain losses, that is 450-500 wheel HP depending on your tunes (average of 100 HP loss).

most people run 8 psi just for a nice safety factor. That is still about 400 RWHP with good tuning
