I just bought a 15 passenger e350 with 29000 miles on it. I did a car fax search prior to the purchase and discovered that the motor had been replaced 9,000 miles earlier at a local Ford dealer. I thought this was a good thing since the engine has only 9000 miles on it. It is the 5.8 ltr. I have the same motor in my Expedition.
Any common failures that I should know about. My Epy has about 40000 with no problems.
the price was the same for 6 vans at the auction. I just did a little more home work than maybe the other buyers. I hope this was a wise choice.
No other issues were addressed on the report. So no other warranty issues were documented. Other wise I would have avoided the van.
Thanks for your input.

OK.. you got something mixed up here because the 5.8 wasn't offered in any Ford vehicle after 1997 so I'm betting you have the 5.4l Triton. That's a good motor and there's no reason it should have died with only 20000 miles on it so something else is fishy here.
The dealership that changed the motor is not far from me. I will call them and see if they can give me some info. Ford would not warranty a motor if it was abused or neglected. You are right, my mistake on the 5.8, I did mean to say 5.4.
