Alright, well i don't know crap about trucks so this may be a stupid question but i measured my muffler and i got 32' long... and the pipes are 2 1/2'.
I goggled 32' muffler and i got nothing... im not sure what the biggest size is but i found none the size i need. Am i going to have to get extra pipes to make it fit or what?
I have a Ford F-150 5.4L v8 Triton just so you know what im looking at.
Any help would be appreciated!
IMHO, I would take a trip to a local muffler shop (by recommendation) and ask for an Allied Resonator. They come in a variety of lengths (from 10" to 34"), are of very good quality, priced nicely (ranging from about $30-$50) and will weld in place of your existing muffler. Allied is a low profile brand that has been around for decades and is sold to just about every muffler shop in the US. With regards to performance, it flows about as well as just about any "name brand" line (unless you are looking for a race-only muffler) and it will give a nice deep tone with just a little rumble.
Everything else is stock in my truck, only reason i want mufflers is for the sound, it sounds awesome. But like i said before, i dont know crap about trucks, i dont know what a cat back is or does lol.
Thank you guys that replied though.

There are all kinds of mufflers you can choose from that will make the truck louder.
The stock muffler on 04-08 is HUGE and weighs a ton...lots of sound deadening.
I never replaced the muffler on any of my other trucks and had over 140K on them before I got rid of them. My 06 with the 5.4L was mandated by my wife that it was to have "that noise". SHE is not impressed with the muffler I chose but I like it. I would recommend going on youtube and listening to muffler clips or search around on the forum here for sound clips.
Tylus has some sound clips here in this thread along with a link to my sound clips.
Catback system refers to all the hardware aka muffler, hangers, and preformed(mandrel being preferred) exhaust pipe(s) specific to your make/model/year truck. If you don't need the pipe(s) just a muffler can be the cheap way to getting a better exhaust note on your truck. The stock muffler is a little more restrictive than most aftermarket mufflers so you might notice a bit of a increase in power. Most of you local muffler shops will have some sort of aftermarket muffler that might do you just fine. Depending on how loud you want your truck to sound you get smaller mufflers for the most part. I got a 13" WickedFlowMAX from Bear River. I have heard of 8" Chery Bombs which I would guess are even louder. FlowMaster and MagnaFlow both have 13" mufflers as well has 18" and even 24" mufflers if you don't want to wake your neighbors if you take off hard from your house in the morning. Then there are Borla, Gibson, Bassenti(sp), DynaFlow, Thrush, and about 2 or 3 dozen other names I am sure.

Then you can dive into tips for your exhaust...
lol i want it as loud as i can get it... id love to wake some neighbors up. The loudest i have heard would be the cherry bomb glasspacks... but im still confused... like when your talking about different sizes of mufflers, does it matter what size i get?
u said u had 13' muffler then to a 8' cherry bomb so i guess it wont matter? just the pipe size?

In theory, the longer the muffler is the quieter it should be, but there are a few variables. take a trip to a good recommended muffler shop, ask the gent for a price plus muffler & tip(s). have them remove your muffler, hold us a couple of different units to the enhaust pipe, fire the truck up and rev the engine a little. Tell them what sounds good to you....and go from there. Any reputible shop will do this.
