4 wheel drive problem

I have a 99 ford explorer 4.0. i put it in 4 low and now it wont come out.Also the overdrive light is flashing all the time. i took the motor off the transfer case and tried to switch it manually but it don't seem to go.It tops out a 35 mph at 3400 rpms. anyone had this problem

Either jack up a back wheels or put the transmission in N, you need to unload the pressure on the gear set, then move the T/C manually.

Have done it many times

Will that also cause the overdrive light to flash.

The over drive light flashing can be the speed sensor, or a transmission issue.

Now when i turn the shaft i can hear a clanking sound in the transfer case . Like something is broken has anyone ever torn one down.
