. They told me there where not enought in the country to produce for anymore. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can get one. I have searched high in low in about every spot I can think of and I am getting very desperate.

Did your dealer give you this ring gear info? Prolly not!
PINHEADS!!Usually...only the ring gear goes bad, so...I can kinda see why Ford killed off the 6.9L's A/T flywheel.
Take the flywheel to a autoparts store's machine shop, they can cut the old ring gear off, "sweat" the new ring gear on.
This is SOP = Standard Operating Procedure for replacing ring gears.
Fits: 1983/87 E250/350 & F250/350 6.9L/C6 2WD/4WD.

E5TZ6384B .. Flywheel & Flexplate Ring Gear
Fits: 1983/89 6.9L & 7.3L M/T and A/T 2WD/4WD / 1990 and later 7.3L A/T 2WD/4WD.
If the teeth are stripped on your flywheel (flexplate) just replace the ring gear.
I could only find one new A/T flywheel (flexplate) for a 6.9.
I can just imagine what the dealer wants for it...since it's obsolete...and no one else (Ford dealers or obsolete parts vendors) has any.
btw: Ford has never used the term flexplate. It's flywheel regardless of what the transmission is.
