I'm planning on buying a used FX4 in the next month or so. From what I've read, the advantage of the 5.4L is that it also comes with a more heavy duty tranny and rear end. Was this the case with the 2005 FX4? When did the FX4 become its own model? Is there a web site somewhere that has this info? I did a search on here but didn't find anything.
FX4 went from an option package (shocks, skid plates, and stickers) to its own trim level (like XL, XLT, and Lariat) in the 2004 model year F150s.
If you look up at the gray link bar just below the FTE banner, there is a drop-down menu labeled "Articles/Specs". Click on "Specifications" under that, and you can browse through various articles including the press releases for each model year.
