What are some of the stupidest, funniest, or most insulting questions that people have asked you? The idiocy of some people can be absolutely hilarious! There IS a reason that "Here's Your Sign" was so very popular.
For example (true story): I was at the grocery store the other day with my 18 month old and my 3 month in one cart; a HUGE bag of dog food, diapers for both kids, and the usual groceries that a household with 2 adults, 2 small children, & 2 big dogs require in a second cart. The cashier and I were co-workers in my previous life-before I became a stay at home mom, and she asked how I was liking staying home with my kids (NOT the bad question). A perfectly groomed woman in a business suit behind me pipes up with, "Doesn't not working drive you crazy?"
"You've never had a full time job until you've been a full time mom."
The one I hate the most is when people will call or come by the motel and ask about room rates. I answer and I get hundreds of people than will then say "Well are the rooms clean?" I now just say no if you want clean rooms you have to go to Kentucky. I could honestly b itch slap people when they ask that.
Last Tuesday it was 99+ degrees and I was carrying mail near the end of my route which happens during the hottest part of the day. A lady pokes her head out the door for me to hand her the mail and she asks "are you hot honey" as sweat is pouring down my face and the air is so thick I can barely draw a breath.
I would have preferred if she asked me if I wanted a glass of water.
Had a flat tire in the Wallyworld parking lot, while I am getting the jack and tire iron, guy walks up and says, "flat tire, huh?".....My response, "No, I was driving along, and the other 3 just swelled up!"
OK, the place I work at is named Allegheny Process Systems. In this area, the power company that services the area is Allegheny Power.
In the white pages, our number is often right below theirs or at least very close. They have a 1-800 number which is an automated system, we have a local number. People call us because they don't want to call a 1-800 number or deal with an automated system (and some think we do billing or something? who knows).
So a typical exchange goes like this:
Me: "Allegheny Process, this is Garrett"
Caller: "Hi I'm not sure if you're who i need to speak to or not, I need blah blah blah (something having to do with their power or bill or whatever)"
Me: "Sir/Ma'am, you'll have to call the power company, we are not affiliated with them."
Caller: "Oh. Do you know the number?"
I am always told that I look like someone else. I reply that I am just generic. They will then ask if I know the person that they think I look like.
It happens all the time.

SOOOOOOO...are the rooms clean???
Sorry HB...that wasn't really me...it was my evil twin!!!
I don't think I've ever been asked dumb questions in a while...or if I have I can't remember.
As I am the one who ask the dumb questions.
Oh wait here is one, We are delivering new furniture in the box, not set up or opened, as we are setting it up, the customer ask "Is that new"?
I was watching my son play indoor soccer and a group of girls from his school came up to me to say 'hi'. One of the girls asked me how much longer the game was going to go on and I told her that they'd just started the second half. She looked at me and asked, in all seriousness, "How many halves are there?" It was all I could do not to start laughing hysterically!

Reason: spelling
I work for the State of Louisiana at a special division that handles medical malpractice.
The phone rings, and I answer the name of my division that indicates that I work in medical malpractice.
"Yeah, um, is this the Department of Motor Vehicles?"
"No, this is medical malpractice."
"Do you have a number for Motor Vehicles?"
phone rings
"Is this Department of Social Services?"
"Is this the Child Support Office?"
"Is this the food stamp office?"
These people just don't want to talk to the automated systems on any other state agency's phone, and try to transfer the responsibility to me to find them a non-automated number for them to talk to.
I transfer them to the automated phone number they were trying to avoid. I will even take the time to look it up as we have no affiliation with any other state agency since we are privately funded.
