I have a noticeable rattle at all times except when the truck shifts into O/D. It rattles in P/R/N and 1/2/3. What could this rattle be ? I'm assuming the transmission because once it shifts into 4th it's as quiet as can be. But some other thoughts are the flexplate or the torque converter.
Yep, sounds like marbles in a tin can? Mine was loud enough I changed it out just to get rid of the noise. Some say it's not a problem, others say it a sure sign of impending doom.
Just like marbles in a tin can. I guess they won't swap it out under warranty until it fails, right ? Why does the noise stop once it shifts into O/D ?
Mine is the same way. I called Brian at BTS. He said that it is very common for the torque converters on 99's to rattle until they lock. He also said that there is nothing to worry about.
You right Huck, and I lived and towed with mine for a while, but until I replaced it, I never knew how load it had gotten. I was afraid that something rattling that loud was bound to break.
