ECT Sensor - Here We Go Again

Intermittent problem with stumble on accelerator tip in, sometimes causing engine to die. Not funny at traffic lights or intersections. Problem turned out to be a totally non-functioning ECT (engine coolant temperature sensor, for those new to the forum). I had just replaced this sensor a year ago, but it was a cheaper variety. Black, all PVC plastic body/threads instead of OEM brass lower body and PVC connector.

It was testing completely open, no resistance readings whatsoever. Therefore, the engine was constantly running rich when hot, causing the tip-in stumble.

Thats why I buy either Motorcraft, Delco, or Airtex sensors and parts. Most other brands are cheap junk. i don't mean to sound critical or destructive, I've made the same type of mistake myself.
