need info installing a 01 engine into a 03
i have a 03 f 350 with a v10 thats knocking that i removed.i purchased a 2001 excursion with a v10 that i will be installing in the truck. and i have a few questions.the local junkyard said that their computers showed only a 02 to 04 would work.i have both motors sitting in my shop side by side and i dont see anything different.i noticed the timing chain part numbers are different between a 01 and 03.can anyone tell me if theres anything different or why it wont work?thx

The block itself changed in '02-but nothing that'll keep you from swapping them. It's all internal changed for NVH that added a few pounds to the block. Ford made the same changes to the 5.4L blocks at that same time.

Well,this is a Ford modular we're talking about-so it's totally possible that they didn't change anything internally and just talked about it.
