So I got home yesterday and looked at this 94 f350.......this truck has been sitting for a while, it has a couple of little oil leaks, nothing major, it started right up when I turned the key, but then it died right away, so i did it again, it died again, i did it again and this time i held on the acc. down for a little but, about a min and it was fine then, it ran great smooth shifts, 4x4 was great. The actual truck has 280,000 miles on it and the motor has about 80,000. He got a new motor buecause his last one "broke a bearing", he doesnt know too much about diesels, but he always got it serviced by a diesel mechanic. I dont know if it has the sca in the additive because I couldnt find those test strips, i looked every were, I went to Napa, Autozone, Kragen, Pepboys, and even this old german autos parts store, noone new were to get the them, so any help on that one?....lol......but this truck the a/c seems to be shot, it blows, but it makes a noise, sounded like the belt was dried........any thoughts? But overall he is selling it for 3000, should I get it? It runs great jus the a/c, the minor leaks, and dont know for sure about the sca additive..........any feedback would be great....thank you..Mario
P.S. It isnt a powerstroke, yet it is turbo charged, so I assumed it was from the begining of 94 before the powerstrokes came out, so does that mean it is still an idi?........and when starting and runing you couldnt even see anything comming out of the exhaust not water or smoke.....thanks again, Mario.
Well if it`s `94 but not a power stroke then it`s an IDI, the turbo is a big bonus.
Good that it started easily, should mean that the glowplug system is good and that the compression is good.
Stalling after starting is probably a sign that there is air intrusion somewhere in the fuel system, could be the return lines at the injectors need replaced, not a big deal.
You don`t say what transmission. Was it good? If not it can be a big $ item.
im guessing its the e4od when you described smooth shifts ,and the stalling out issue might not be a huge deal if its been sitting a while, because that would give air an extended period of time to get in the lines.the squalling is probably the compressor being seized up or something like that.
