tranny problems
I have a 1992 F150 4x4 (351 v-8) that shifts "hard" from 1st-2nd only when it gets hot. If I drive in the summer, it shifts normal for a short amount of time, then it clunks into 2nd gear,(3rd seems to shift ok). If I drive in the winter, it doesnt seem to shift hard at all unless I drive all day or put 40-50 miles on it. It seems to me that it is the tranny temp? that is affecting this. I have changed the filter and fluid but has not helped. I'm not real mechanical minded, so if you reply, talk laymans. I have heard of tighting the belts??, how do you do that??? Please help.
P.S. I have 160,000 mile on my tranny, do you think that it is worn out. Should I re-build or put a new tranny in?
