I have a 03' F250 CrewCab and when I open the front passenger door the light doesnt come on. What can i do to get this to work? I have already sprayed WD40 on the latch and it didnt help. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
You can try removing the sensor from the latch and working until it frees. Or you can pay the $10 for a new sensor and be done it with. You may want to verify the wiring is okay, unplug it and the light should be off and when you short the pins, the light will come on.
When i get to the house i will try that. do you have to remove the lacth to get the sensor out? im not around my truck right now so it is hard to see how it comes out. thanks
To get it out, not really. However, I haven't been able to put them back together inside the door. Your skills may vary, but expect to have to remove the latch just to make life a little easier. It's pretty simple, there are 2-4 rods that connect to the latch, most of them have a flip over catch that you hook and pull. The cable stays on the latch for this part, but be sure to unhook the interior door lock, exterior door lock and the exterior door handle rods. Then unbolt the three torx, cuss a little as you wiggle the latch out of the door and you've got it.
How much WD40 did you spray in there? You REALLY have to soak it and sometimes may have to let it soak in for a day....open/close the door many times. My Lincoln door took two days before it started working again....but good thing is it has never done it again. Been 4 years.

I sprayed WD-40 in my locks on Friday to relief the “door ajar” light from being lit all the time. I checked all the doors and all was well so I decided to take it one step farther and stay some aerosol silicone in the locks to help keep the dirt out longer. After doing all four doors (SD 250 CC) with the silicon the “door ajar” light is back. I’ll check it out tonight to see if the extra time has changed anything.
