believe me, (i know a former diesel tech very well) and the duramax's aren't a walk in the park either. the reason they get raved so much is the ability to make cheap power... on the maintenance side if things, they're no better than the '05 and up 6.0's...
In your dreams Sherm, in your dreams!!!
The Dmax is much more dependable than any 6.0 out there >> ask around and get more opinions than those of a few Ford biased individuals. A diesel truck is expensive >> spend wisely!
I could hardly find a used Dmax when I was looking to replace my 6.0, but almost every dealership had a 6.0 that was close to warranty expiration (do you get any hints from this as to which is better!).
I don't have much experiance with the duramax, we have a 08 powerstroke, and a 08 duramax, so far they both have been hiccup free.
If I do decied to go with a diesel it will be the 6.4l. Not to sure what will happen, my wife and I have been talking about moving back home and if that does happen it will change my driving habits and what I can afford.
Ya, we are thinking of moving back to Saskatoon area, maybe in spring, but we don't know foresure yet!
We are coming home this weekend for my wife's grandparents 90th birthday, so I'm hopeing to get to Merlin and take a V10 for a spin to see what they are like. I hope they still have that one I saw in stock,
not cool Marlon... i vote you move to yorkton... Maple Farm Equipment is a great place to work, slower paced town and a little cheaper to live... problem solved. i'll start building your home tomorrow...
Thanks for the offer Sherm, Jen and I would like to be closer to our family, and now that she has her CA, she can transfer to the same firm in Saskatoon.
I have been looking around on mls.ca to check some options, there are some not bad houses in Langham, Martensville, and Warmen. Just a little to soon to buy, we are thinking spring time.
I took a new F350 supercrew 4X4 V10 for a spin from Merlin on Saturday. I loved the truck, the power was a little deciving. The engine is so smooth it didn't feel as fast as what it really is. I was driving down the highway at what felt like a normal highway speed but was actually 130k's. The salesmen said if driven at speed limit they get 16-17mpg. The computer was showing 15mpg as I was driving down the highway. I would say that it had more than my f150 5.4l and it's a much heavier truck.
Still not sure what to get for a truck if I get a different one next spring. But the V10 is now a very good posibility!!
Ive driven Ryans v10 a few times now, and its definately not short on power. To me they have alot mroe seat of the pants feel then a 5.4, and they rightfully should.
I still like a diesel though, but if I were to buy brand new, I would have a little harder time buying one right now.
I keep thinking im gonna wait and see what ford does next for their diesel.
