Im in the market for a new used truck, and Im looking in the 2000-2004 250 or 350 range. I was looking for some input as to the pros and cons of the V-10, the 7.3 PS, and the 6.0 PS. Im planning on using it mostly for highway driving, and will be pulling a 3-4 horse trailer on occasion. I was interested in power, fuel economy, comfort of ride, that sort of thing. All of the trucks I drive at work are powerstrokes, and they seem to hold up to a beating, but I wouldnt know what one is actually supposed to run like, as ours are all pretty well hammered. I would imagine that the V-10 is probably not as good on fuel, but does it pull as well as a powerstoke? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
the older 2v v10 (99-04) have less power and better economy
the newer 3v v10 (05+) have lots of power and fricken suck gas likes its going out of style
I have 2 v10 trucks, one of each. The older one gets used 3 days a week to haul trailer on local runs. The newer 3v sits in my driveway, looking pretty.
The 2 older diesel trucks are on the road every day, at least 200 miles each.
I was in the same boat as you about 2 years ago and got talked into the v10. What a mistake. Nothing like seeing $30,000 and another $100 a month for insurance for a gas sucking pig to set still cause you cant afford to drive it anywhere. Do I sound bitter ? Yes, I am.

You bought a V10. At what part of having 10 cylinders did you expect to get good fuel economy!?
If you want good fuel economy get the 7.3, because that's the only engine that will get you decently respectable numbers. I give you no sympathy for your ignorance.

Don't hold back tell us what you think of your gas sucking pig.

I can help....bring truck & title to me, and I'll let it set in my driveway...and save you the $100 a month in insurance. Rest assured it will be appreciated here!
Besides, those old debates are far too aweful to read. Who in their right mind would actually read 69 pages of that crap?
I agree. Those type debates seem to always veer off subject to where they are useless. I clicked on it yesterday and read the last couple pages and they were talking about Chevys and a van. No thanks, I would have started a new subject too.
