Cleaner Wax

Why is it that each time I use cleaner wax (Mother's, for example), when I apply it, there is paint color on the applicator? It seems that the wax with the cleaner may be too harsh. Should this type only be used once or twice and then subsequent wax applications should be a wax that is not also a "cleaner?"

Cleaner Wax

I am not sure about the Cleaner/Wax but I have been using the 3 step methods (cleaner, polish, wax) and I also get paint on the cloth. I was told if the paint does not have a clear coat this will happen.
I usually use the cleaner twice per year spring/fall and then use wax whenever for extra protection.
I have great results doing this.

Cleaner Wax

What is happening is you are removing paint that has become oxidized. This happens from being in the sun. In order to get that just like new shine you need to remove all that oxidized paint and get down to the good paint and that will bring out the shine. A cleaner/wax does a fair job of this but a good buffing with a machine will do a better job. Then after the buffing apply a glaze followed by a good quaility carnuba wax. That should seal the paint and have a long term shine. The buffing should not be done like a regular wax job but perhaps yearly depending how your truck is used in regards to the weather/sunlite.
