I made the trek to the Superduty junkyard today and picked up a whole bunch of parts. I already put in the lower dash panel with the teeny glovebox from an 05 style truck in my 2000. Its a nice and welcome addition. Next, I would like to change the dash bezel, the piece that goes around the instrument cluster and radio. I have one, complete with all switches and controls, and was wondering if this has been done and if it is as easy as the lower panel was. I know I have to get a diffrent radio, thats not the issue as much as the fit and heater controls (and headlight controls). Next I was thinking of an 05 front end upgrade, depending on the amount of time and work its going to take.
So far I have installed 05-07 parts - heated turn signal tow mirrors, stainless factory step bars, 4wd selector solenoid, vacuum tank and air lines to wheel hubs, power seat tracks, seat springs, heaters and lumbars, last was the lower dash panel with tiny glovebox and new style cupholder. I omitted the upfitter switches for now and just put in a factory cubby. Coming up this weekend, Excursion center console with rear seat cupholders.
Would like to do - 05 style front end, 05 style seats (depends on $$$, I just replaced the seat foams and leather covers)
Basically, I want my truck to feel like an 05-07 style truck, but with the good 7.3 in it.
I am also interested in this because I need a new bezel and the 05 ones are cheaper, I have an aftermarket radio so I shouldn't have to worry about fitment
Jeff,
Not to hijack the thread, but I am curious about your seat foam and leather covers. Did you do this yourself or take to an upholstery shop? I need to deserately replace mine after 190K. If you did it yourself, where did you get the foam and leather?
