tranny or transfer case?????
I have a 98 f150 4X4 4.6 auto seems to stuck in low range. i was driving down the road at 55mph whe the truck went into neutral stopped the truck put it in park and it stated to roll forward as if the transfer case was in neutral, i then put the truck in neutral and shifted into 4 lo out it in gear and the truck was in 4lo. attempted to put it in 2 hi and everything seemed work right. started don the road and the gearin seemed to be a lot lower that usual in final drive i could only go 35-40 mph at 3000 rpm then the engine cuts out like a rev limiter. Now i shift into 4 lo going down the road

You are stuck in Lo range, get down under the truck and remove the T/C shift motor, use a set of pliers and rotate the shaft to the indexed Hi position. Repair or replace the shift motor.
You may drive the truck with the shift motor removed.
You may drive the truck with the shift motor removed.
