Question Engine question

This might sound dumb but when you are driving and you put the gas pedal to the floor normally it drops down a gear so you have more RPMs to speed up faster. Is there something wrong if that doesn't happen and you just slowly speed up? By the way I'm not an expert on engines so this question might sound like I'm dumb to some people.

Yes, there is something wrong; most likely, the kickdown linkage is out of adjustment or
isn't even hooked up. What year, model & engine are you talking about here?

I'm assuming you have an automatic trans, then what ctubutis says is correct.if it's a manual trans you have to manually down shift the trans one gear.

you should fill out your profile so we know what drive line you have.
