yes and no,the one i worked on was a honda 5.5hp it would suddenly spill fuel out of the carb, it would slobber and fart for a bit (because of flooding) and then run out of fuel, also has a new honda 50 carb with the needle gummed up in the open position, pull the carb off remove the bottom bowl, with the carb horisontaly, float dangling attach a hose to the carb inlet and move the float up,blow through the hose, when the float is 1/2 ways you won`t be able to blow through,if the float goes higher, its a plastic float the only way to move it is to heat and bend it,don`t know what else to tell you there`s really nothing to these carbs!
Found the problem!!!! The old carb flooded so much that it saturated the filter (despite it looking clean) and then obstructed the air way. Never seen that before but at least it is an easy fix. I never would have thought the filter would make it that sensitive but it is obviously a tight airflow system.
Many thanks to everyone for their replies.
I was there for a while today but my 2 year old was in no mood for anymore visiting after the zoo. Next time we will let you know though. I'm enjoying the father-in-laws pool and hot tub this week for a few days off...... if the weather smartens up!
The Fusion has been excellant! Such a solid car, no problems, good gas mileage and power (V6) and comfortable. I would buy another one. The only thing is that it's a little small in the backseat for car seats and stuff as the kids get bigger. We'll probably move up to a new Taurus or Edge next as a family vehicle.
