Question about towing.

Hey guys I have a question concerning towing with my 06' 6.0 PSD/DRW. Next week I'll be towing a 6000lb bat from FL-MA. I haven't towed anything with the truck since purchasing Sept 08' my question is since the boat only weights 6000lb would I need to run the truck in the "tow mode" running on the interstate or could just regular "od". The truck is equipped with a 4:11 gear ratio if this helps? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

You shouldn't need to, but it should drive better that way. Won't gear hunt as much, and should give you better performance.

Try it both ways and use the way you like best. It won't hurt anything in either position.

In my opinion it depends alot on the terrain in your situation. Typically I'll put it in tow/haul mode if it's over 4k as I usually have to deal with hilly terrain in my travels(TN to TX and TN to VA for the most part). Since you are above my self imposed weight that makes it for a prime time to use it and if you are going thru hilly terrain the tow/haul mode will help you out alot. It just seems to make the haul a little easier. In my opinion. Like Mark said neither one will hurt it, I just think that there is more "pep" from the truck when it's in tow/haul mode versus when it isn't.
