I usually hang out in the 61-66 and FE forums. I'm preparing to install a rebuilt 428 in my 66 F250. I don't have a tach installed on the truck. I do have an old Sears handheld dwell / tach that I've never used. I want to test it on another V8 and my friend has a 1990 F250 with an 351.
My understanding is that the the red clip on the tach is supposed to go on the negative side of the coil and the black clip is supposed to go to ground (negative post on the battery).
The original poster there said "The stamped marks ( + /- ) were located at the bottom inside the female connector and the negative wire on mine was yellow with a dark green stripe."
