Front axles
What you're likely thinking is a CV joint is a slip spline. It has a dust boot on it like a CV joint.
The differential housing is in the left arm and it moves up and down as a unit. Between the differential and left hub is one U-joint to let the left wheel turn.
The right wheel is driven by a double U-joint shaft. The center U-joint is at the center of the axle pivot and allows the axle to articulate up and down. The right U-joint is by the right hub to allow the right wheel to turn. In between the center and right U-joints is a slip shaft with a boot.
This joint is just like the slip joint behind the center carrier bearing on the rear drive shaft.
