I also have a Dodge Dynasty with a bum Engine Controller that does not regulate the voltage any longer. Works great otherwise. (stretching the truth a bit for a 280,000 mile vehicle)
I bring this to the Ford Truck forum as a dealer in premium voltage regulators, as for boats, planes, etc. would not sell me one for the Dodge but gave me the cryptic advice that "you can fix it with the regulator off a Ford alternator and a 75 ohm resistor"
I'm looking at the regulator from my F150. It has an F and an A lead that go to the rotor of the alternator. There are also three leads going to the wiring harness that are the A, S and I terminals. It also seems to get a ground from the heat sink mounting.
The wiring diagram for the Nasty is no help, as is the one for the truck. I can guess where the rotor goes to, but what do I tie the A, S and I leads to? What is with the "75 ohm resistor"? Does that replace the idiot light?
Any one up for puzzling this one? Maybe someone has a better electrical diagram than I do.
This might not help but the last 1997 Dodge i had at least 3 Ford parts on it with the Ford emblem made on the parts. when i ask the dealer i was told they came from the factory with those parts. not that this would help but i have heard alot of dodge and ford parts interchage.
I've heard of this being done, and it wouldn't be hard after studying some wiring diagrams. You would need a regulator from an externally regulated Ford alternator. These were much more common in the 70's and 80's.
You might have better luck in the 73-79, 80-86, or even electrical forum.
