Hey all, I have exhausted all local resources on a transfer case for me 88 f-250. Seems the hang up is the slip yoke at the rear output. The flange style seems to be readily available. If this a feasable swap to go to flange style? What conversion is necessary if possible besides swapping drive shaft? Pro/Cons, any advice would be helpful. Thanks
The flange output on the BW1356 should be from a bronco. All you have to do is take the output shaft, flange out of the bronco case and put the longer output shaft and housing onto it.
My current case is in dire need of a rebuild. Sounds like alot came loose in there rear output is locked. I can move truck with front wheel drive only(main drive shaft removed). I dont have facilities or the time to do a rebuild personally. Wanted to do a complete swap for just plain ease. Apparently the slipyoke style is in high demand out here but the flange style is available. I figure if its not much beyond changing a driveshaft out might be worth the swap.
That sounds very odd, are you sure you are working with a B/W1356? As the rear output shaft runs from the range selection gears all the way out, and the chain drive actually runs off the single rear output shaft. I think this is the same for the 1345 and NP208 cases as well. The NP205 had a gear to gear case that the front could be run seperate from the rear drive shaft.
He said it did that when he removed the rear shaft. I've had to drive FWD like that myself for various reasons in the past.
Yeah, and they all have to have had to do with the rear driveshaft or the rear axle. The front output in the Tcase is run off the rear output, so if it went, so would the front.
