breakin oil
getting ready to start up my reconditioned 351W in my 86 f250. I plan to run Mobil l oil--should i use this for breakin period? Someone told me its too slick and rings won't seat properly.

The advice my engine builder gave me was to run a good quality 30wt/10W30 for breakin... I changed to Mobile I at 1500 miles...

Your engine will break-in on synthetic, but not properly and may take a lot longer. Use a good quality straight weight oil like: SAE 30W or SAE 40W. A heavy diesel oil 15w40 will work excellent as well. After 3000 miles you can go ahead and use synthetic.
