2001 Transmission downshift from overdrive

I have a 2001 Expy, 2wd, 5.4, 22,000 miles and after it reaches speeds of 50 or so and you pull off the gas easy then get back into it it shutters and knocks, seems like its shifting between overdrive and 3rd gear really fast. This keeps up until you pull of the gas and get into it very easy. Has anyone else has this issue? I dropped it off last nite and the dealer said its not a common problem.

2001 Transmission downshift from overdrive

Alright the dealer had thier transmission guy drive it and they called it "convertor shutter". They will look at engine coils first then replace the convertor. They told me to come by and get a loaner car. The problem has gotten worse and I think the first sign was a drop in mileage from 17 highway to about 12.

I will try to keep this post updated.
