I already have a pretty nice set of XLS bezels for Project: Iron Maiden (thanks again Mark), but I was never really thrilled about using the instrument cluster bezel because it has A/C vents and the truck does not have A/C. Plus it just looks a little more cluttered to me.
Well to make a long story short, I finally found a really nice 1980 XLS Flareside in the yard today! The first XLS that I have ever seen in person after all of these years of looking.
The truck was pretty much toast and the ONLY thing that it still had that was of any value to me were the instrument cluster bezel, radio bezel and horn pad. They were filthy and it took quite a bit of elbow grease and detergent to clean them. All in all I'm very happy with the outcome and can't wait to get them installed in the truck.
$10 out the gate and I had an ear to ear smile the whole way!
Here are the ones that I found today:
And, here are the other ones that I already had next to the new set. I have the other XLS emblem for the radio bezel, I just need to glue it back on:
I'm just really beat. It was really hot again today and I went shopping it two different yards. Started at 7:30 this morning and didn't get home till 2:00.
I also scored a bunch of really nice tires too. Only thing is, I had to take them all off the rims on this make shift, manual, POS, tire changing station out in the hot sun and show (help) the Mexicans too. I felt sorry for them.
Stuffed my dad's Neon with about 14 tires I did.....
Awesome find stosh. I don't know I've seen XLS fascia panels down here, only the base models and the crappy woodgrain XLT ones and the XLS look better I reckon.
I'd love to have access to junkyards full of trucks but these beasts aren't as common down here therefore good parts are rare and very exxy.
