Hello, I need some help with troubleshooting my Navigation system in my 2000 Navigator. It seems to have a little problem like locking up on me sometimes but my biggest issue is that it won't retain any of the addresses I save. They will stay in the memory until the ignition is off for several minutes then any settings including the addresses are gone. Is there a battery in the unit for memory back up that needs replacing?? Can the software be updated? Any help would be appreciated.
Being a 2000 Navigator, I'm assuming that the unit is aftermarket. Is that correct? Is it saving your radio stations? Need a little more info please. If aftermarket, it could be an inline fuse
hmm....what model is the nav unit? (also assuming it's aftermarket)
Most of them can be upgraded - go to the manufacturer website and look for the model number. Usually includes burning a CD or DVD and reprogramming the actual device.
I've yet to see one (except the portables) that have a battery in them. They are keyed to the accessory switch and a constant on - might be a loose connection to track down. (pull the unit, find the constant wire coming from the dash, put a probe on it and make sure it holds voltage when the vehicle is off?
