Ok, quick question. So I have my 351w in a '81 F150. I have recently replaced intake, carb (edelbrock 600), distributor. I test drove it for the first time this morning, and noticed some odd behaviour. Whenever it is in gear and I give it a quick "jolt" of accelerator, it revs and then dies (jolt meaning a quick tap of the pedal, on-off). What could cause this?
On a similar note, what would be the key things to do for tuning after replacing those parts? I have re-timed it (10 deg. initial, 36 total) and calibrated the idle mixture. It should be noted that originally I timed it at 14 deg initial, and reducing it to 10 seemed to inprove the above problem a fair bit. However, I have been told that reducing it below 10 generally isn't a good idea.
On another (possibly related) topic, there is an odd issue where during quick braking the engine RPM drops gradually to the point of a stall. Is there a common problem here?
