HPOP Reservior???

Hey guys, i am in the process of replacing the rear plug on my HPOP. Right now i am letting the reservior and pump drain out. Kind of a stupid question, but do i have to fill the reservior back up? How much oil do i put in there? Also, do i have to prime the HPOP in anyway before i start the truck, or do i just fill the reservior, check everything over, ad start the truck. Thanks in advance.

Fill the resevoir to within about 1" from the top. It should take about a quart, dont worry about over filling it because there is a stand pipe inside that drains back to the crankcase. You dont have to prime the HPOP before you crank the truck, but it is a good idea to go ahead and have your battery charger on the batts. there will be a good amount of air in the lines that has to be pushed through the injectors before your truck will run smooth. after you get it running drive it at least 75 miles to get the air out of the heads and lines.

Fill the reservoir back up to avoid long cranking on initial start. The only way to bleed the air out is to drive the truck. It could take a few miles,
20 or 30 depending on how fast you are driving. It will run a little rough at first due to the air in the HPO system.

If you are in no big hurry and the plug is back in I would wait till Morning.

You can refill the the reservoir now and re-check it in the morning.

If it don't leak you're good.

Loctite 680 when applied to squeaky clean threads will help seal the threads and keep the fitting or plug tight. Ford did use a thread locker on the so called non-servicable plug.
