if you guys remember my thread a while back about loosing my rear breaks from running over an board in the freeway well when it broke the rubber line it also kinked the hard line a little that runs from the T to the passenger side drum. i bent it back but it still has a little bit of a kink in it so i want to go ahead and replace that line, it makes me nervous having that kink in there even though everything is working fine so iv been driving the truck only when i need to. well anywise i want to make a new hard line anyone know what size fittings go on either end?
IIRC they are all standard 3/16 double flare fittings. You can buy various lengths of it from most auto part stores with the flares and fittings already on it.
I just did this line in my wife's green truck. Don't remember the fitting sizes offhand, but I remember clearly that they were two different sizes at the splitter end and the wheel cylinder end. O'Reilly's didn't have a single piece long enough (total 48", IIRC) with those two sizes, so I got a 12" with the two different sizes, a 36" with the same size on each end, and a union. Just take the old line in, and they'll match up the end fittings.
Get your PB Blaster out now, and hit those bleeders.....
well i ended up getting an line that was about 6 inches longer than i needed had the right fitting on one end and wrong one on the other, i bought the right fitting that i needed then it took me about 45 mins with an tubing bender to get it to exactly match the shape of the orrigional peice cut off the extra put the proper fitting on and re-flared the end, came out looking like factory just a little shineyer.
good stuff. glad to hear you're up and running.
x2 on the pb blaster (or what ever your boob-lube of choice is )
also advance auto has that coated tubin. has an olive drab kinda color. works pretty well and stands up to the elements.
