Trans Cooler thoughts.

I'ma need one.

Anyone ever did any custom trans coolers?

I was trying to think of something that would work good. No idea's yet. Just thinking bout HVAC coolers. They are generally efficient.

Do you run a small pump inline with the trans and cooler to help circulate to get good cooling?

I'd go haul this boat to CA, but No trans cooler means no go. No Pyro either, but i'm sure I'd be cool with no upgrades, just worried bout oil temps on trans.

The best cooler is either a 26 or 31 row tranny cooler from a 6.0, A TruCool Max 4437 is probably the next best. No aux pump is needed.

You need a trans cooler for a 5-speed?

Trans coolers are good all around.

Why would you not need a trans cooler on a Manual?
They still create heat, there are more moving parts in a manual then an automatic.

And, why not use an inline pump? That seems more efficient for cooling.

Not really need William. The ZF6 does run a cooler but the failures in the ZF5's aren't heat related. Spend the time and money else where.

I was just worried. I do have a bushing going for reverse.
Can be such a pain. Got a new trans in my old truck to fix that, and got the problem back with the new truck. hahaha.

Trying to find a zf6 or zf5 to replace it.

Neal was telling me though that there isn't anywhere to put a trans cooler for the zf5 on our trucks.
Maybe there is an out and in for the trans cooler he doesn't know about. but thanks for the info.
I'll have to yak at you on the phone to get the rest of the info on zf5 failures.

What about this one?

http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=180

I have heard that some 6 speeds come with an aux pump and cooler setup from the factory. This is based on the fact that Bob at the diesel site offers a filter for this particular model...
