Fluid Fiasco
My '91 Ranger 2wd w/ Mazda transmission had , in the past been filled with the wrong fluid(gear oil I think) now it has ATF. My question is what type of fluid is correct? Thanks in advance.

Read the comments on the dip stick. I suspect Mercron III.

I am currently running redlines D4 ATF fluid in my 2000. It is a synthetic that is MERCON compatible. It has been working for me.
