01 350 had some work done at stealership and they left turbo vac hose off. once put back on turbo doesnt work right. after 200 m. trip found and replaced hose but turbo doesnt work right. how is this so
Do you mean the red tube going to the canister on the compressor housing? That's a pressure tube, not a vacuum. And what do you mean by the turbo "doesn't work right"? What's it doing or not doing?
The wastegate is probably open. That's what that line is for. The green line goes to the intake hose between the turbo & CCV coupler and just dumps extra boost from the solenoid control valve back to the intake. Leaving it off isn't a big deal, but there's most likely something up with your wastegate. Try pulling the red line off the canister on the turbo and see what happens.
Highly doubtful, these Garret turbos are actually very stout for their simplicity. The only way to "burn" one up is to block the oil flow that the turbo shaft rides on in the bearing housing. The turbo could be damaged if they disassembled it, and did not seat the wheel correctly and the wheel has made contact with the compressor housing.
What kind of work exactly did they perform?
Is any oil present in your exhaust pipe?
As long as the housings are good and the exhaust side wheel and shaft are good the turbo can be rebuilt (you do the work)for around $125 + or- $25
here is a link that I wrote, with pictures. although the turbo I rebuilt was for a Van it is the same basic animal as the truck turbo. http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/vanturbo.php
